This is what’s starting to get me down: the constant “life-hacking, how-to-live-your-life” banality. Some can be good, but as you say, most of it is “cotton candy empty puffy stuff.” I think any time you’re attempting creative, challenging writing, you’re bound to lose people. It’s tough territory for a majority of readers. Maybe that’s why genre writing is so popular. *shrugs*
