Hemingway’s motto: “The first draft of anything is shit,” will always be true. I use my “inner critic” to keep me honest when doing multiple edit spins. It’s good to draft, realize it’s “shit,” then edit and after editing — ALWAYS — take a break (I’m big about naps, or just give it an overnight rest before editing again). Generally 4–5 edits spins produces something that’s vaguely worth reading. Just my take. cheers.
